CRUSHING
BIG PROJECTS
Compact mobile crushing and screening equipment requires very robust, highly reliable engines that can run at low RPMs. To meet these requirements, Rockster has long relied on Cat® power – integrating 3136B, C6.6, C7 and C9.3B engines into its broad line-up of crushing and screening plants, mobile stackers and mobile feeder conveyors.
According to Rockster, the advantages of choosing Cat industrial engines over other brands of engines are clear: Cat engines are fuel-efficient and designed to work in the toughest applications. Their reliability and durability standards align with Rockster’s own high expectations. After-sale support is fast, with a worldwide network for parts, and the Cat brand is well-known and respected worldwide – with many of Rockster’s customers preferring products powered by Caterpillar.
The biggest advantage, according to Rockster, is the fast, expert service available through the worldwide Cat dealer network. This local support helps prevent downtime, ensuring that the company’s customers – whose work includes the recycling of asphalt, concrete, demolition debris and other construction materials, as well as the processing of natural stones and metals – can get their work done economically and on time.
“Highest customer satisfaction is our main target at Rockster,” says Wolfgang Kormann, CEO of Rockster. “We achieve this with a professional and customer-orientated package of product and service. In our business, that means consistent, highest production performance, which we guarantee with reliable, powerful and innovative design backed with the best service and parts availability. For our engine needs, Caterpillar is the perfect fit for us. Caterpillar stands for highest power, long-term reliability and a strong service focus.
“Furthermore, we believe in developing partnerships. We do this with our customers and our suppliers to achieve the best results together,” Kormann says. “We have established a very good cooperation with our Cat dealer, Zeppelin, which helps us find fast and professional industrial engine solutions that benefit our customers.”
All these factors led Rockster to choose Cat power once again for its largest crusher, the R1100DS, which features a unique duplex system that allows the impact crusher to be switched to a jaw crusher, and vice versa, on the same chassis. Whatever application it tackles, the R1100DS provides high performance at a very high crushing rate. The Cat engine that enables this capability delivers steady, reliable operation, even amid the toughest, most demanding crushing projects.
During the design phase for the R1100DS, the Rockster design team turned to Cat dealer Zeppelin – as they had done on previous projects – for assistance with engine integration. Together, the two organizations selected the Cat C9.3B engine, which meets EU Stage V emission standards, to power the R1100DS. Zeppelin provided 2D and 3D CAD models, shared technical design data and delivered easy-to-understand installation instructions to ensure a smooth design process and a high-quality end result.
