Caterpillar is First to Receive China Stage III Nonroad Certification for Engines Greater Than 560kW

For Release in China: October 2015

Release Number: 340PR15

On September 25, 2015, Caterpillar Inc. became the first engine manufacturer to receive the China Stage III Nonroad emission certification for Nonroad Mobile Engines from the China Ministry of Environmental Protection (MEP) for engines greater than 560kW. While engines rated below 560kW have been regulated in China since 2009 (under GB 20891-2007), the larger power engine emission standards became effective October 1, 2015.  China is the fourth country in the world to regulate emissions for engines with greater than 560kW following the United States, Canada, and Singapore.  Large nonroad mobile engines are typically utilized in Large Construction, Mining, Oil & Gas, and Mobile Electric Generator Sets applications.  Stationary engines are excluded from China Stage III Nonroad emissions standards.

“We are proud to be the first manufacturer to receive the China Stage III Nonroad certification for our high-horse power engines. This achievement demonstrates our continued commitment to reduce emissions while providing best in class engines to serve the industries of China,” said Rod Shurman, the 3500 Engine Product Manager.

Cat received certification for the 3500 variable speed, 3500 constant speed, C27 ACERT variable speed, and C18 ACERT constant speed engine families.  Cat engines offer reduced emissions, consume less fuel and have lower through-life owning and operating costs. Caterpillar is committed to providing customer solutions that offer the highest uptime and minimize total lifecycle cost.

Caterpillar products are backed by the Cat Global Dealer Network, long-recognized for world class equipment, parts and service ensuring unparalleled performance throughout product ownership.
