For Worldwide Release: Oct 2012
Release Number: GP12PR13

Technologies featured will improve productivity and safety, reduce downtime

Houston, TX – Caterpillar, Inc., will showcase large power solutions for gas compression as well as medium range rich burn gas engines and comprehensive product support services at the 2012 Gas Machinery Research Council Show (GMRC) held in Austin, Texas, September 30 – October 3. In addition to displaying a Cat® G3600 engine cutaway, a live demonstration of the innovative Condition Monitoring technology will also be performed on the show floor.
Among the power solutions being highlighted at the show is the Cat CG137-12 gas petroleum engine. Featuring rated power of 600 bhp (447 bkW) @ 1800 rpm, the CG137-12 is optimized to provide customers’ operations with 20% more power and speed while offering increased engine durability. The CG137-12 was designed to ensure emissions compliance through integrated Cat aftertreatment solutions and air-fuel ratio control.

The newly-redesigned Cat G3520B engine for gas compression applications is also being featured at GMRC. The redesign enables the engine to provide greater altitude, temperature and speed turndown capabilities, providing broad application flexibility for customers. The engine’s light weight coupled with high power density make the Cat G3520B ideal for lean fleet management.

“In gas applications, Cat products have served as the industry-standard for power solutions over the course of many decades,” said Wayne Longer, Caterpillar Global Petroleum Senior Account Manager. “At GMRC, our goal is to inform operators of our new solutions that have evolved with technology to meet and exceed worksite expectations. This year we are pleased to showcase our product support services that help drive our products to superior performance.”

Caterpillar developed Condition Monitoring to ensure Cat products consistently and continually operated at peak performance 24-hours a day. The technology was designed to increase the reliability of Cat products while decreasing owning and operating costs on products that have exponentially increased in complexity over time. The service integrates diagnostic capabilities to determine root causes based on engine performance data and subsequently prescribes corrective actions. To view a live demonstration of the Condition Monitoring technology, please visit the Caterpillar booth on October 1st and 2nd.

All Cat products are backed by the worldwide Cat dealer network with trained technicians to ensure service support is never out of reach. To learn more about these Cat products, please visit the company’s booth at the 2012 GMRC event, booth 432.  For more information, visit catoilandgasinfo.com
