Houston, TX – Caterpillar Global Petroleum is pleased to announce the launch of the new Cat® 3512E (HD) High Horsepower Land well service engine. The United States EPA Tier 4 Final 3512E (HD) engine is offered with ATAAC and SCAC configurations in two power ratings: 1678 bkW (2250 bhp) @ 1800 rpm and 1864 bkW (2500 bhp) @ 1800 rpm. The engine will be available for customers to order in 2014, and will be on display at the Caterpillar booth at OTC 2013, May 6th – 9th in Houston, Texas.
“At Caterpillar, we realize that emissions regulations impact our customers’ operations and actively design, manufacture and launch high performance products with reduced emissions,” Diana Hopkins Caterpillar Global Petroleum product definition manager stated. “The Cat 3512E (HD) meets the latest emissions regulations without sacrificing performance, durability, or reliability.”
Manufactured in Lafayette, Indiana, the Cat 3512E (HD) Tier 4 Final engine will meet emission standards with a NOx Reduction System (NRS) and Diesel Oxidation Catalyst (DOC). For ease of installation, Caterpillar will be providing customers with a turn-key aftertreatment solution and various engine attachments. Customers will also have the option to purchase the engine with the air cleaners, aftertreatment, and exhaust system installed from the factory. “This greatly simplifies the Tier 4 engine integration for OEMs since Caterpillar has already invested in the design and validation of these engine mounted exhaust systems,” Brian DeCaires, Caterpillar Global Petroleum Project Engineer stated. The engine will be available with a single advanced ADEM™ A4 engine control module, Product Link™ for engine monitoring, optional engine mounted transmission cooler, and optional air shut-off valve.
Customers will also enjoy lower owning and operating costs with the new 3512E (HD) Tier 4 Final engine. Compared to the 3512C (HD) Tier 2 engine, there is up to a 5% improvement in fuel efficiency and increased ambient and altitude capability. In addition, maintenance intervals will be improved with the factory installed air cleaners and other enhanced engine components. Since the Caterpillar Tier 4 Final solution uses a NRS configuration, there is no need for additional fluids such as Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) in order to meet emissions regulations.
Caterpillar can provide customers with an optimized solution for a Tier 4 Final drivetrain on their well stimulation trailers. “When the 3512E (HD) is matched with a Caterpillar CX48 or TH55 transmission, and a new Caterpillar well stimulation pump, customers will have the most reliable well stimulation drivetrain available, and a one-stop shop for world class service and parts support from their CAT dealer,” said Scott Roberts, Caterpillar Global Petroleum Well Service Marketing Manager.
The new Cat 3512E (HD) Tier 4 Final engine will be distributed, sold and supported through the worldwide Cat dealer network with trained technicians to ensure service support is never out of reach.
