When an equipment part or engine component reaches the end of its lifecycle, customers can return it to their Cat dealer in exchange for core credit^*. The returned cores (i.e., used equipment components) are salvaged and remanufactured to match original OEM specifications and the latest Caterpillar engineering updates. Then, they re-enter the supply chain as Cat Reman products with like new quality. 

Beyond supplying customers with efficient parts, the Cat Reman process emits fewer greenhouse gases and consumes less energy, raw materials and water than the manufacture of new products. It's beneficial for the environment, it's ideal for Caterpillar and it's good for the customer. 

Through the remanufacture of used cores, the Cat Reman program provides valuable parts to customers when they need them. This helps us manage the health of the supply chain, allowing us to offer cost-effective price points across the Cat Reman product line while reducing scrap metal and other waste sent to landfills.
