BUILT FOR THE LONG TRIP HOME
The Cat D6Ns are leading the way as the Coldest Journey team makes the long trek back to Antarctica’s coast and eventually home.
The machines once again are dealing with the worst Antarctica can offer: treacherous blue ice, dangerous crevasses and sudden weather turns.
But Cat Finning engineer Spencer Smirl says after seeing the machines respond after idling during an Antarctic winter, he believes they can handle anything.
“The fact that both Cat D6Ns started the first time despite months buried under snow is a testament to the build quality of the machines and the quality of the modifications engineered by Finning.”
