Facing power uncertainties due to the eruption of the Taal Volcano and the COVID-19 pandemic, Nexperia Philippines, Inc. searched for a source of reliable energy that could protect the materials in its warehouse in the event of a prolonged unscheduled power interruption.
Nexperia turned to Cat® dealer Monark Equipment Corporation to purchase two Cat generator sets. When the government imposed an enhanced community quarantine, Nexperia requested the gensets be delivered immediately. Fortunately, Monark was able to deliver the two units without any problems in late March 2020.
After Monark delivered the generator sets, Nexperia hired a third-party contractor to install the units, requesting the Monark engineering team’s help with commissioning. Monark engineer Cris Bolivar ensured that everything would flow smoothly even if the Monark team could not be onsite for the final stages of installation and commissioning.
When quarantine measures tightened and Monark could not complete the commissioning work, the team held a video conference with Nexperia’s facilities and energy team to walk them through testing and commissioning the generator sets step by step. Once the generators were fully turned over and operational, Nexperia informed Monark of its plan to use the generator set to power a temporary facility.
