As a small community of 1,495, Johnson City in southwest Kansas internally operated its standby power with equipment aged over 50 years old. Faced with the crucial decision of restructuring, Johnson City turned to Cat® dealer Foley Equipment to help them modernize.
Foley determined the city’s precise needs and developed a system that would last well into the future. Their team of expert technicians crafted a custom solution for Johnson City. They installed two Cat C175-16 diesel generator sets that would enable a steady revenue stream and fast-start capability for emergency situations.
The factory-certified Cat C175 meets emissions regulations while providing excellent fuel economy. The system also requires minimal monitoring, so during a power outage, the generators automatically switch on to begin operating even before staff arrives.
As they familiarize themselves with the new technology, the public works staff know they have their Cat dealer’s full support.
“Foley Cat has served us really well,” McMillan says. “We have a great relationship with them, and when we have questions they are always available to provide the answers we need.”
