75% Of Residents With No Electricity
Myanmar had one of the lowest electrification rates in the world and development increased demand. A major energy crisis left millions of residents without electricity. A high-quality and high-performance power plant was needed quickly. MSP Cat and Caterpillar delivered 13 Cat CG260 gas generator sets and additional installation components. The $46.5 million project was completed on time, and the 50 MW power plant is supporting the national power grid.

Cat® gensets increased efficiency of cogeneration system
The cogeneration system was put into service in 2004 and since that time has been used to generate the power need to cover the basic load. The remaining energy demand continues to be met by the four conventional heating boilers. The Cat G3520C natural gas generator set meets the heating needs of about 2,100 households, and generates 16.5 million kilowatt hours of electricity per year. Most of that energy is fed into the local power grid and sold.
