For Worldwide Release: May 24, 2016
Release Number: EEPR0416
PEORIA, IL – Caterpillar Inc. today announced the introduction of the Cat® 3516E diesel generator set with a 3,000 kVA standby rating in 50 Hz operating environments, which offers the lowest footprint and weight in this power range.
With a footprint of 15.84 square meters and weighing 20,048 kg, the Cat 3516E generator set requires up to 32 percent less installed space and is about 27 percent lighter than competitive offerings, translating into lower handling costs, reduced expenditures for foundations and supporting structures, and more space for business operations.
Available now, the Cat 3516E generator set is powered by the proven 3500 Series engine, the industry standard for large diesel engines. This engine platform has offered reliable performance for 35 years, with hundreds of thousands of installations worldwide.
Featuring a 78.1-liter displacement, the 3516E engine utilizes the Cat A5 engine control module (ECM), which enables a fast response to load changes, minimizing power quality issues. The A5 ECM also offers increased I/O capability for enhanced monitoring and control capabilities.
The Cat 3516E diesel generator set is available with either a standard 43oC ambient radiator or a 50oC high-ambient radiator, which delivers full power from the generator sets at ambient temperatures up to 50oC with no derating, supplying power when it is most needed.
The factory installed radiators were designed by Caterpillar specifically for the 3516E generator set package. A four-point lift for the entire generator set includes the radiator with a complete coolant fill, allowing customers to position the generator set with very little local assembly.
An auto tensioner for the radiator fan belts reduces maintenance costs by eliminating the need for checking belt tension during service intervals.
Configured in low or high voltage applications, the Cat 3516E generator set features the motor starting capabilities needed for quick load acceptance.
