PEORIA, IL – Caterpillar Inc. today announced the expansion of the Cat® Rental Power product line with the introduction of three new 50/60 Hz mobile diesel generator sets ranging from 150 to 500 kVA. Versions of these new XQP generator sets will either meet EU Stage IIIA emission standards or provide low fuel consumption performance for customers in nonregulated territories.

This initial releases will be available late in the first quarter of 2016. Rated for 50 Hz prime operation at 150, 275, or 500 kVA (Stage IIIA) or 150, 300, 500 kVA (low fuel consumption) with 10% overload capacity, the first release will complement the current Cat XQE mobile offering from 20 kVA to 100 kVA and extend the power output range.

“Customers are seeking lower cost solutions to meet their temporary power needs,” says Brian Kruse, general manger at Caterpillar Rental Power. “The features incorporated into the latest XQP models will help deliver on those needs, while improving safety and availability in a more environmentally friendly design.”

The Stage IIIA product is emission-optimized and legally required on all mobile applications in Europe, while the fuel-optimized product is ideal for customers interested in consuming the least amount of fuel. Each model delivers increased flexibility by easily switching between 50 and 60 Hz, which allows one machine to satisfy varying load requirements across diverse regions and applications including mining, manufacturing, oil and gas and construction.

Equipped with Caterpillar’s sophisticated EMCP 4.2B control panel, the new Cat XQP mobile generator sets feature power metering, protective relaying and engine and generator control and monitoring. Advanced controller options enable the generator sets to be utilized from single unit installations to complex multi-unit power plants.

With a robust, rental-ready construction, the product line is designed to be easily transported around project sites safely and efficiently. Heavy-duty bases with integrated fork lift pockets allow the unit to be dragged and lifted with ease, while Clipsal or CEE socket options are available on select models to reduce installation time and provide trouble-free power distribution.

Extended service interval kits reduce consumables and waste, while simultaneously increasing uptime availability. In addition, a dual-wall, open top fuel tank provides increased protection from potential spills.

Another unique XQP feature is the introduction of clutch fan drive technology. Integrated into XQP 275 to 500 models, the fan no longer needs to runs continuously at full speed and power. This saves additional fuel, while also lowering noise output; an ideal feature when operating at lower loads, in cooler temperatures, or most importantly, in evenings when noise levels are most noticeable.

All Cat XQP mobile generator sets are supported by the Cat dealer network. Cat dealers are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to assist with your emergency rental needs. Caterpillar’s service network ensures access to prompt; quality repairs by trained technicians at Caterpillar authorized service locations.
