New Genset to Feature Increased Power, Improved Performance
Houston, TX – Caterpillar Global Petroleum is pleased to introduce the Cat® G3516C generator set for global land drilling applications. Available in early 2014, G3516C offers an increased power rating of 1,555 eKW (2,175 hp) @ 1800 rpm. This next generation drilling module features improved performance at low engine loads and maintains a compact footprint comparable to diesel power modules used in drilling applications today.
“The new Cat G3516C highlights Caterpillar’s continued to commitment to bringing innovative, natural gas solutions to the oil and gas industry,” Stefanie Acosta, Caterpillar Global Petroleum product definition manager noted. “Strategically our goals are to deliver the right product to improve our customers’ performance in the oilfield and the G3516C will enable customers to drill with more power without sacrificing efficiency in operations, size, or weight.”
Manufactured in Lafayette, Indiana the new G3516C is based on the proven G3516 genset platform, which has been powering oilfield drilling applications for over eight years. Along with improved power capability and optimized footprint, the G3516C will also be EPA Spark-Ignited Non-Road Mobile certified upon availability in spring 2014. The G3516C has been engineered to offer improved transient response, fuel tolerance and altitude/ambient capability to maximize product flexibility for various drilling applications. Each of these product performance improvements will be demonstrated during field testing at customer sites throughout early 2014.
