Caterpillar Launches Cat® C15 and C18 China Phase IV Power Solutions at 2014 CIPPE in Beijing, China

Beijing, China – Caterpillar Oil & Gas is pleased to announce the production and availability of the new Cat® C15 ACERT™ engine and C18 engines. Designed for workover and mobile drilling rigs, the new Cat C15 and C18 engine deliver reliable horsepower while meeting the newly-enacted Phase IV emissions regulations in China. The Phase IV compliant Cat C15 engine with aftertreatment packaged with a Cat CX31 transmission will be on display at the Caterpillar booth at the 14th China International Petroleum and Petrochemical Technology and Equipment Exhibition (CIPPE) from March 19th to 21st in Beijing, China.

“We developed these engines to not only comply with the legislation impacting the China oil and gas market but to also offer our well services customers in the region reliable power in workover and drilling applications,” Scott Roberts, Caterpillar Oil & Gas well service product marketing manager said. “Both engines complement our existing offerings developed specifically for our Chinese customers and feature tailored custom packaging options to create a one-of-a kind solution.”

The Cat C15 ACERT On Highway China Phase IV engine features a power rating of 540 bhp (403 bkW) @ 1800-2100 rpm and the Cat C18 On Highway China Phase IV engine is available in a power rating of 630 bhp (470 bkW) @ 1800-1900 rpm. Both engines offer industry-leading power and torque capabilities optimized for drilling and workover applications. Emissions solutions for the Phase IV Cat C15 and C18 include an on-engine NOx Reduction System (NRS) and aftertreatment featuring a Clean Emissions Module.

The engines offer robust validation on 350ppm fuel sulfur.  Additionally the Cat C15 and C18 are offered with a variety of attachments to ensure ease of integration into application, with standard ADEM A4 engine management system and can be ordered with optional attachments including an engine-mounted transmission oil cooler, air shutoff valve, radiator etc. for drilling and workover rig applications.  The Cat C15 is optimized to be paired with the Cat CX31-P600 transmission.
