PEORIA, IL – Caterpillar Inc. today announced ten new standby power nodes for diesel generator sets available now to help customers in Western Europe and other global markets meet power needs and emissions targets with greater precision.
Using the Cat® 3516C and 3516E platforms, Caterpillar produces four 50-Hz power nodes with standby ratings ranging from 2,250 kVA to 3,000 kVA that offer nitrogen oxide (NOx) emissions under 2,000 mg/Nm3 for regulated environments and applications. Additionally, Caterpillar’s portfolio includes six 50-Hz nodes with standby ratings from 2,250 kVA to 3,500 kVA that provide certification to U.S. EPA Tier 2 emissions standards.
“Caterpillar continues to expand our selection of standby nodes to help our customers succeed by providing the right solution for the right power challenge,” said Joel Feucht, general manager for Caterpillar’s Large Electric Power Division. “Excess standby power capacity can needlessly elevate equipment purchasing and ongoing fuel costs. With today’s launch, Caterpillar is helping our customers dial into the exact standby solution that meets a narrowly defined power need while addressing local emissions standards and delivering optimal owning and operating cost.”
Cat 3516C and 3516E generator sets are designed to meet the NFPA power restoration requirement for Level 1 systems and accept 100 percent block load in one step. They meet ISO 8528-5 G3 requirements for steady state and load acceptance.
All of the new power nodes are available with a low- or high-voltage frame alternator that enables quick load acceptance through exceptional motor starting capabilities. This feature eliminates the need to oversize the generator set due to motor starting requirements.
The Cat 3516C generator set utilizes the field-proven Cat ADEM™ A3 engine control module (ECM), while the Cat 3516E generator set employs the Cat ADEM A5 ECM. These modules integrate all engine functions including ignition, governing, air-fuel ratio control, and engine protection.
Caterpillar delivers innovative power systems engineered to deliver exceptional durability, reliability and value. The company offers worldwide product support, with parts and service available globally through the Cat authorized service and dealer network. In addition, dealer service technicians are trained to service every aspect of Cat equipment.
