IT ALL COMES DOWN TO CORE

The Caterpillar remanufacturing process begins when a customer's component nears the end of its life. The customer can return the used core (AKA equipment part) to their authorized Cat dealer in exchange for core credit1. Acceptable core is sent to one of Caterpillar's global core processing facilities, where it's inspected before moving on to a Cat Reman factory.

On arrival the core is disassembled to its smallest piece parts, losing its original identity. Then the individual pieces are cleaned of microscopic debris and inspected. Next the components go through laser cladding, machining, metal deposition and other advanced salvage procedures.

After salvage, the part is reassembled into a like-new component, following the original OEM specifications and incorporating all the latest Caterpillar engineering updates. It's tested to match the same standards as new Cat parts and reintroduced to the supply chain as a Cat Reman product with a same-as-new, 12-month Caterpillar Parts Warranty2.

1. End-of-life core is eligible for total or partial credit if it is fully assembled and complete; it displays no non-operational damage, and it is not visibly cracked, broken or welded.

2. Limitations may apply. For complete details about the applicable Caterpillar Limited Warranty, contact an authorized Cat dealer.
