Sabey Corporation developed Intergate.Manhattan into what is now the tallest data center in the world. Located in New York City, the facility presents a unique set of challenges including security, preservation and power loss. Sabey relies on its partnership with the local Cat® dealer, H.O. Penn, for emergency backup system support and critical data management.
There has been an increasing move toward natural gas fueled standby power systems in recent years. Typically installed with an automatic transfer switch (ATS) or paralleling switchgear control for multiple generators, these generator sets sense when a utility outage occurs and automatically starts the backup power generator system transferring power to the emergency source. When the normal grid power returns, the control system automatically switches back and shuts down the emergency generator.
Committed to sustainable business practices that center around recycling, waste reduction, and reducing energy consumption, Holt of California installed two Cat® solar arrays that cover over 80 percent of energy usage at its Pleasant Grove facility.
Learn MoreOne of the byproducts of brewing beer is wastewater rich in biodegradable materials. Bell’s Brewery had been examining alternatives for turning its wastewater byproduct into energy, commissioning a bioenergy facility that includes three anaerobic digesters to convert biodegradable contents of the wastewater into methane-rich biogas to power a Cat® G3406 generator set as part of a cogeneration system.
Learn MoreThe Chattanooga Metropolitan Airport installed a solar farm connected to a microgrid that includes energy storage, a Cat® G3412 gas generator set, and a control system as part of efforts to reduce the airport’s impact on the environment. The microgrid supplies power to the runway lights and other navigation aids at the airport and provides energy to an adjacent neighborhood since it’s tied into the local utility’s distribution system.
Learn MoreAs Portugal’s biggest food distribution company, Jerónimo Martins supplies more than 483 of its own supermarkets across the country. To ensure they remain fully operational during a grid power outage, the company depends on Cat electric power equipment to fulfill its backup power needs at its retail stores and distribution centers.
Learn MoreProducing reliable power from 1600 to 2000 kVA at 50 Hz, our 3516 diesel generator sets are made to meet your mission critical, continuous, standby and prime applications. We've designed each to ISO 8528-5 transient response requirements and to accept 100% rated load in one step. Generator sets offer a low fuel consumption system.
