When Hurricane Sandy made landfall, the Joint Meeting of Essex & Union Counties wastewater plant treated all the raw sewage that came into the facility during the storm. None of the treatment tanks overflowed, even when the nearby Elizabeth River and the Arthur Kill saltwater channel flowed in.

Biogas Project of the Year
Monogram Snacks has leftover oils and fats that need disposal. To avoid incurring high monthly surcharges for processing wastewater, Monogram built a new clean energy plant. An anaerobic digester breaks down the waste and converts it to methane gas, which is used to fuel a Cat® CG132-08 gas genset, saving on their utility bill. Monogram Foods was recently recognized as the “Biogas Project of the Year” by the American Biogas Council. The Biogas Project of the Year honors an operation that strongly exemplifies financial ingenuity, energy efficiency and sustainable waste treatment.

Chester, California prepared to undergo a 72-hour power shutdown so that Pacific Gas and Electric (PG&E) could replace power poles and their cross-arms.
