Eric Ortiz of Quinn Company, a Cat® dealer in California, knows what it takes to keep a mine site humming. When production is on the line, he recommends Cat CVAs to make sure there are no surprises.
Estimated read time: 2 minutes
As a product support representative for Quinn Company’s operations throughout Central and Southern California, Ortiz makes it his business to help customers anticipate essential maintenance needs.
“When I meet with a customer that’s never heard about Customer Value Agreements [CVAs], the first words out of my mouth are ‘hassle-free maintenance.’”
That’s why Cat® CVAs for mining equipment are vital tools in his arsenal.
“CVAs allow customers to forecast their planned repairs,” Ortiz explains. “So, if a customer knows that they’re starting to receive yellow or red oil samples through the S•O•SSM [fluid analysis] program, then they’ll know that at one point or at a certain time they have to down that machine, and project that machine being down for an engine swap or a component rebuild.”
CVAs provide valuable monitoring and tracking data. And with that timely info, Ortiz, Quinn Company and the customer are better able to minimize unplanned downtime.
“With a CVA, we can control through the customer’s assistance when a machine needs to be down and where a machine needs to be placed while that machine’s down,” Ortiz says. “No surprises.”
The goal of a Cat CVA is to help customers keep their fleet moving and get the most from their investment. And for years, Cat CVAs have delivered real results to miners around the world. Plus, Cat dealers can tailor these plans to suit any mine site’s needs.
Bottom line, Ortiz adds, “Owning and operating cost is key to success. If you can keep that owning and operating cost down by monitoring your maintenance and planning your repairs, a CVA would be your best option.”
