How long have you been a truck driver?
I’ve been driving for 26 years.
When did you purchase your truck?
I started driving the truck when it was brand new in January 1995 as a company driver for Millis Transfer; three-and-a-half years later, I purchased it.
What made you decide on a Cat engine back then?
I like the combination of pulling power and fuel economy that I get from Cat engines.
How many times have you overhauled it?
Twice. Once at 750,000 and again at 1,418,320.
Why do you go to an authorized Cat dealer for your parts and service needs?
They have the parts on hand and the experience to recognize problems that someone who doesn’t work on Cat engines all day long may not.
What are some of your more memorable long hauls?
I have lots of memories about the places I’ve been and predicaments I’ve found myself in, like delivering to a fish hatchery near Crater Lake National Park in Oregon, driving in a cave in Kansas, running a load of ammunition along the Clearwater River in Idaho and getting lost in Chinatown in New Jersey.
What is the secret to your success?
I always say, “Drive for dough, not show.”
