In dirty, dusty and even dangerous environments, you need a machine that’s tough enough to handle whatever the day throws at you — and keep on working productively and safely. Cat® medium wheel loaders for waste and scrap (models 950 through 980) come straight from the factory ready to take on your toughest, harshest jobs. Take a closer look at three ways they’re built to protect against downtime.
1. THEY STOP THE DAMAGE CAUSED BY MATERIALS & DEBRIS.
Standard on all Cat medium wheel loaders for waste and scrap are multiple bottom guards that keep debris from accumulating, compacting and damaging key components like the frame, transmission, fuel tank, axle shafts and axle seals.
Likewise, top guards protect the cylinders, cab, hydraulic pumps and other components from accumulating debris and material falling over the work tool. You can also add optional guarding to protect your loader’s windows, lights, HVAC and roof.
2. THEY HELP BOTH OPERATOR & ENGINE BREATHE EASIER.
It’s hard to be productive if you’re breathing in dusty air or unpleasant odors all shift long. That’s why Cat medium wheel loaders for waste and scrap come standard with a carbon fresh air filter to reduce odor-causing debris particles in the cab. Working in a highly dusty application? Consider the optional powered cab precleaner unit to keep your operators from ingesting airborne debris. To help your loader’s engine breathe easier as well, you can choose options like a turbine trash precleaner that extends engine air filter service intervals and a variable pitch fan that automatically purges cooling cores by periodically reversing air flow when needed.
3. THEY LET YOU WORK SMARTER & SAFER IN CHALLENGING SPACES.
In confined spaces, narrow front fenders give you more clearance to the walls. The heavy-duty ladder is designed for extreme environments, with a lower steel cable replacing the standard rubber strap to resist damage from materials and debris.
Reinforced electrical and hydraulic service centers feature additional wear plates to ward off damage — and welded-on plates on the service platforms support the additional weight of third-party suppression systems. An optional rear guard counterweight provides more protection at the back of the loader.
You work in extreme conditions — dealing with harsh environments and challenging materials. So don’t choose a loader built for a general application. Choose one factory-built to stand up to the rigors of waste and scrap jobs day in and day out, delivering the uptime and productivity you need.
