When construction began in Sochi in 2007, it was hard to believe the scope of the project. Numerous new sports facilities, roads, bridges, hotels, and buildings all had to be built in just a few short years.
About 300 Cat® dozers, excavators, motor graders, backhoe loaders and other machines were used to prepare sites and construct new infrastructure for the games, including the main game sites: Krasnaya Polyana in the mountains and the Olympic Park in the Low Imeretian valley.
The 2014 Winter Games in Sochi are running through February 23.
