Quebec-based construction company stops by Caterpillar booth at CONEXPO-CON/AGG to talk about VisionLink®

EBC is a Quebec-based construction company working on more than 30 projects across Canada. The Caterpillar user interface VisionLink® has enabled EBC to pull all their machines into one platform.

“Now we are able to communicate to the job site the number of hours, location, fuel consumption and utilization,” says Cat customer Philippe Naud. “We provide the data to the job site, so now people on the job site can focus on their work. For us, it’s much easier to do our work.”

Cat® Product Link™ connects EBC to its dealer, Hewitt, with accurate, timely and useful information about location, utilization and condition of equipment.  EBC has adopted the easy-to-use interface, VisionLink, to easily access customized health and utilization reports, and mapping and mixed fleet capabilities.

“Now we are able to communicate to the job site the number of hours, location, fuel consumption and utilization.”

VisionLink has helped EBC achieve increases in productivity, reductions in idle times and other benefits never seen before. One off-highway utilization project had the potential to save the company $300,000.

“(We’re) sure it provides a value-added benefit,” says Cat customer Guy Bernard. “The platform is user-friendly.  For us, it is much easier to track what we have to do.  Because it works really well, this is the best platform we have.”

Caterpillar Technology Expert Craig Cutting says in the Age of Smart Iron, data is driving solutions for Cat customers.  “Nowadays, it’s really no longer about the device, it’s about the data that your machine is able to provide you.”
