Caterpillar is your fuel efficiency leader, and that’s evident in two of our newest machines featured at CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2014 – the 336F Hydraulic Hybrid Excavator and the 972M XE Wheel Loader.
The 336F H Hybrid is expected to deliver even greater fuel savings than the 336 E H Hybrid with no loss of power or productivity.
“It has hydraulic accumulators, also has an ACS valve and an ESP pump. All three contribute to fuel consumption reduction on average of up to 25 percent less than the 336 F,” said Kent Pellegrini, Caterpillar North American Excavator Product Specialist. “The 336F H that we’re launching at the show today…that machine is now tier 4 final ready. We’re ready to go to market with it. We’re basically targeting up to five percent less fuel with the 336F H over the 336E H hybrid we had in the past.”
And that means big savings for our customers.
“It’s a game changer for the hybrid industry. Saving fuel in the long run and also maximizing production, that’s how (our customers) make money. Payloads per ton.”
The 972M XE wheel loader is also on display at CONEXPO. It features the XE advanced powertrain. XE technology results in 25 percent lower fuel consumption on average compared to machines with traditional torque converters. It simplifies operation with a two pedal design and provides high performance at all speeds.
“What Caterpillar did was combine a hydrostatic transmission and a mechanical transmission in one package, so this transmission is intelligent and it decides which path is better for fuel efficiency and application efficiency,” said Lucas Sardenberg, Caterpillar Product Marketing Consultant. “So at any time the machine can determine if it needs more hydrostatic transmission or more mechanical transmission. You have a higher efficiency and less fuel consumption throughout the range of applications.
This 972M XE is a technology leader for loaders. It also excels at truck loading and is a 3-pass match for many of the larger highway trucks used in North America.
“This machine is very versatile, so it can carry through a broad range of applications,” Sardenberg said.
Applying proven technologies systematically and strategically lets us meet our customer’s high expectations for productivity, fuel efficiency, reliability and service life.
