Retrofitted Motor Grader with 24,000 Hours Featured at CONEXPO

If a trusted member of the Alberta-based construction company Bouchier ever deserved a Las Vegas vacation, it’s the company’s Cat 160M Motor Grader.  That’s right, the motor grader.  The 160M has been showcased at CONEXPO-CON/AGG 2017 after logging 24,000 hours since 2010 – on the same engine. Ready for work every day in Alberta’s often challenging conditions.

“I’m very impressed,” says Cat customer David Bouchier when he stopped by our booth in North Hall. “It’s for our business, good for my clients, having a piece of equipment this reliable, not breaking down and running steady.”

Caterpillar has also been able to give the 160M a technology makeover.  The retrofits include tire monitoring, LED work lights, fuel consumption monitoring and much more.

“We’re able to add these technology features on the older machines,” says Cat Technology Expert Ken Herubin. “And that allows a customer to upgrade to technology you see on newer machine. You can retrofit to older machines.”

And the team at Bouchier is more than happy to pamper the machine. “Technology is the future, for sure,” says Cat customer Dallas Clark. “Anything we can do to adapt and grow with it and put it on an older machine. We don’t want to get rid of this old girl, so these updates are going to help, for sure.”
