Cat® Dealer Yancey Bros. Co. Celebrates 100 Years of Helping Customers Build Georgia

Started by two brothers and still family-owned, Yancey Bros. Co. is celebrating its 100th anniversary in 2014 by commemorating all that its customers have built in the state of Georgia over the past century.

“A lot of things have changed in the past 100 years, but the foundation of what Yancey Bros. Co. stands for has not,” said President and Chairman Jim Stephenson, who represents the fourth generation of family ownership. “It has always been about delivering the highest quality equipment in the world with unmatched service and support to customers that are building Georgia.”

Yancey got its start in 1914 when Goodloe and Earle Yancey began selling road construction supplies and the Adams Mule Grader, an early motor grader pulled by eight mules. Their entrepreneurial spirit led to the company’s expansion, and the brothers soon became the southeastern United States’ only distributor of the Holt Model 45 tractor. In 1925, the Holt Manufacturing Company merged with the C.L. Best Tractor Co.to form the Caterpillar Tractor Company, and Yancey Bros. Co. became one of the oldest Cat® dealers.

Today, Yancey operates 31 locations throughout Georgia and credits its many customers with the dealership’s success—and the state’s growth—over the years.

“If you look back at every decade, you’ll find significant events and projects that we have been fortunate to have been involved with,” Stephenson said. “We work very hard every day to make sure our customers have the right products and the right support to get their jobs done.”
