What Loggers Say About the New Cat® D Series Skidder

Building on Caterpillar's 40+ years' experience designing and manufacturing skidders, the new Cat® D Series Wheel Skidder delivers more productivity at lower operating cost. Read what loggers who helped with the design have to say about its power, strength and maneuverability:

From the first meeting to the second meeting, I felt they listened to what we had to say and really took into consideration what we thought. We saw some of it implemented the second time we met. That was reassuring. It showed that a corporation like Caterpillar would actually listen to their operators.

It’s been really good. Loving the size and power of it. She pulls wood! I don’t think the guys are going to let me let the pilot machine go.

We work the southwest Mississippi River hills and fairly rough ground. It stays on the ground much better.

It’s quiet. It’s strong. It’s very maneuverable and sure-footed. It moves a loader better than anything we’ve ever had. It gets about really well. The power is probably 30% over a 525C. I call the 525C an old workhorse; it’s just about indestructible. This tractor here takes it to a new level.

It gets into the steep places that we need to go, and it’s very stable. For us, big is the way to go.
