Fuzhou sits on the Min River. From its earliest beginnings 2000 years ago the city’s identity has always been linked to maritime trade. No surprise then that Fuzhou, described by Marco Polo as an international market of commerce, has evolved into a major shipbuilding hub today.
The state owned Fujian Southeast shipyard is China’s top AHTS and OSV builder, producing a staggering 30 ocean-engineering vessels per year, sold all over the world. Founded in 1956 as a fishing vessel plant, the Fujian Southeast shipyard, together with its sister the Mawei shipyard, handles about a third of the total offshore supply vessel orders in all of China. At times, their ability to deliver on schedule seems nothing short of miraculous. But quick delivery would not matter if the ships weren’t well made.
Excellent quality
With customers around the world Fujian Southeast shipyard is determined to ensure that each vessel they build meets global standards for excellence. 80% of the shipowners that Fujian Southeast shipyard works with are repeat customers, but all of them have unique demands. They come here because they know the shipyard has the expertise and flexibility to meet those demands quickly, and that is what sets the workers at Fujian Southeast shipyard apart – a unique dedication to honoring their commitments and upholding the highest standards.
