When crankcase pressure runs high or filters become restricted, the team at Weatherford Drilling International (WDI) isn’t caught off guard. With five land drilling rigs now connected via Cat® Connect, they know the moment something goes wrong—and start taking action to fix small problems before they turn into major repairs.
In January 2016, the Kuwait-based land drilling company began using Cat Connect—solutions that integrate product, processes and people to enable more efficient operation—on 20 Cat 3516 gen sets that serve as its main drilling engines, as well as seven Cat C18 camp generators.
“Before connecting our equipment to Cat Connect, we would be notified of failures through local site alarms and manually collected site data,” says Abdelaziz Hadhoud, who manages WDI’s Cat fleet. “Cat Connect now allows us to receive alerts remotely.”
