Caterpillar’s Operator Training eLearning courses are an easy way to brush up on the basics and learn how to operate, maintain and be safe on your Cat® equipment.
The eLearning courses are created for operators, technicians, equipment owners and anyone else who wants to learn the basics about heavy equipment safety, pre-operation maintenance and operating procedures.
Caterpillar offers more than a dozen Operator Training eLearning courses, and no matter which piece of Cat® equipment you operate, there’s something for you.
Each course is available on any internet-connected device. You can expect interactive activities and machine walk-arounds, virtual cab tours, full-course narration and high-definition video. Upon successfully completing your eLearning course, you can print a certificate of completion. Let’s take a look at just a few of the Caterpillar eLearning options.
1. Dozers eLearning for Heavy Construction
This course is designed to introduce new operators to dozer safety, machine controls, maintenance, inspection and operating procedures. Are you a more experienced operator? You can also refresh or improve your knowledge of safe practices. Topics include basic dozer operations such as blade techniques, steering, dozing, backfilling and ripping. This course is also offered in Spanish.
2. Hydraulic Excavators eLearning for General Construction
New operators can learn all about excavator safety, controls, maintenance, inspection and operation with this eLearning course. Topics include an overview of the operator’s compartment, pre-operating procedures, and basic hydraulic excavator operations such as using the pin grabber coupler, tools, digging positions and range, trenching, tramming, lifting and swinging, backfilling, and truck loading.
3. Motor Graders eLearning for Heavy Construction
Whether you’re a new operator or a veteran looking to refresh your knowledge on motor grader operations, this course can help. In about one hour, this eLearning course covers a basic motor grader overview, a look at safety best practices, a maintenance and inspections how-to, and a look at basic operations, including steering and maneuvering, rough grading, road maintenance and V-ditching.
4. Skid Steer/Multi-Terrain/Compact Track Loader eLearning
Take a broad overview of your compact loader with this eLearning course. Topics covered include safety best practices, pre-operating procedures, how to identify utilities, attaching implements, load and carry, level and straight grading, backfilling and steering track machines.
5. Wheel Loaders eLearning for Quarry/Mining
This course is specialized toward operating your wheel loader in a quarry or mining scenario, giving a look at specific safety and operations practices in this setting. The material covers worksite safety, maintenance and inspections. Learn about pre-operating, bucket loading and load and carry procedures, along with truck spotting and truck loading techniques and floor maintenance.
