HOW TO USE SLOPE ASSIST

Your machine’s easy-to-use Slope Assist feature takes any guesswork out of getting to grade. Automatically maintain your blade position to grade faster with better surface quality. Here are some tips and videos to help you get started.

Cat® Grade with Slope Assist can help you finish jobs up to 39% faster, with fewer passes and up to 82% fewer operator inputs. And the best part is, you don’t need a base station or a laser — or any additional hardware, software and equipment to keep track of. It’s all built into your dozer. Here are the simple steps to follow to use this feature. 

  1. View the Slope Assist screen on your monitor to see current slope values. 

  2. Control Slope Assist using the yellow Blade Auto button on the machine’s right joystick.

  3. Click the button again to turn off Slope Assist and return to manual.

GETTING STARTED WITH SLOPE ASSIST

Use the Slope Assist menu to set your mainfall and blade slope modes to indicate, basic or advanced. If both dimensions are set to advanced, you can also choose which mode you would like your joystick increment/decrement to control.

In the Slope Assist menu, you can see your mainfall and cross slope dimensions. 

  1. Clicking on these dimensions and your dozer’s Slope Assist will automatically set the blade to the slope input on your monitor (indicated by a gray box around the numbers).

  2. Click on the dimensions again to enter advanced mode, which automatically returns your blade to a preselected slope using the recall function. 

  3. Set a recall value using the match slope function. Just set your blade manually to whatever slope you’re working with, and click the match slope button. 

  4. To switch your slope value from uphill to downhill, just click swap slope.

When you turn your monitor on, you’ll see two slope readings — on the left, the fore-to-aft slope of your dozer; and on the right, the left-to-right slope.

Setting Slope Assist increment and decrement is as easy as one click of a button. 

  1. Enter advanced mode in Slope Assist and click your joystick buttons to use increment and decrement settings for your mainfall and blade slope. 

  2. Click the button to move your blade by the increment and decrement value you previously set in the settings menu.

Need to switch from mainfall to blade slope for your increment/decrement joystick? Enter the settings for Slope Assist and click on Joystick Increment Decrement to toggle between the two dimensions.
