One perk of owning a wheeled excavator is it’s highly mobile. Unlike a tracked excavator, it can drive on finished roads and jobsites while maintaining lift and digging capacity. But if you don’t use the Cat® wheeled excavator ride control feature, you could have a very bumpy ride.

PREPARING TO USE WHEELED EXCAVATOR RIDE CONTROL [00:20]
First, make sure your machine is in roading position.
Prepare attachment for travel.
Make sure your excavator is stationary.
Store implements in roading position.
Make sure the horn and all lights are working.
Adjust mirrors for safe travel.
Once your machine is ready, you can turn on ride control.
TURNING ON RIDE CONTROL [00:42]
Press the ride control button on your right control panel. The indicator turns on, and the ride control symbol then displays on the monitor. The icon colors indicate what’s going on with the system.
Green means active. The accumulators act as shock absorbers to smooth out your ride.
Yellow then gray means something isn’t right. This will happen if, for example, the bucket isn’t empty.
Permanent yellow could mean the excavator isn’t stationary or one axle is lifted.
Remember: Always refer to your Operation and Maintenance Manual (OMM) for guidance on maintenance, safety, settings, features and more.
