Powered By Cat® Engines: Dolphin XI

WHALE-WATCHING VESSEL FEATURES CAT® C32 ENGINES AND C4.4 GENERATOR SETS

Marine lovers and visitors to New England have a new choice for whale watching, thanks to Cat® marine power.

Dolphin Fleet Whale Watch of Provincetown, Massachusetts, took delivery of the Dolphin XI in May 2019, and the tour company’s newest vessel is now offering passengers an up-close-and-personal experience with marine life in the waters of the Atlantic Ocean.

A 114-foot-long aluminum vessel with a top running speed of 30 knots at 2,100 rpm, Dolphin XI is powered by three Cat C32 marine propulsion engines that meet U.S. EPA Tier 4 Final emission standards. Two Cat C4.4 generator sets, each providing 75 kW of electrical power, generate Dolphin XI’s service power.

Named one of WorkBoat’s “10 Significant Boats for 2019,” Dolphin XI has a capacity of up to 360 passengers and a crew of five. The whale-watching vessel was designed by Incat Crowther and shipbuilder Gulf Craft LLC, out of Franklin, Louisiana.
