Everlasting power

The year is 1981. Metallica was formed, Celine Dion had her first debut on national TV, Elias Canetti receives the Novel Prize in literature and Caterpillar was about to release the 3500 engine series. An engine that later on would be the mother of engines. But stakes were high.

GOLD STANDARD

For more than 85 years Caterpillar has been providing power to the people around the world. From North America to China, in far away regions and extreme climates, Caterpillar was always there. But the launch of the Cat 3500 engine series would be something else. Little did they know that the 3500 engine platform would be a huge success world wide. As we know today, the 3500 engine series is one of Caterpillar’s most outstanding series and the industry gold standard for power, performance, and sustainability. It also offers an incomparable support from the worldwide Cat dealer network. When there is a job to be done, the 3500 gets it done. With over 190,000 engines shipped since 1981, and over 10,000 satisfied costumers as proof the numbers don’t lie, this is the gold medalist.

REST ASSURED

All Caterpillar gas power systems are supported by the Cat dealers, a factory trained global network. Customers can rest assure that the equipment will be ordered, delivered, installed and commissioned in consultation with a local expert they can trust. There is no room for failure. Cat dealers have over 1,600 dealer branch stores operating in over 200 countries to provide the most extensive post-sale support. And that includes oil and fuel monitoring services, preventive maintenance and comprehensive Customer Support Agreements.

ONE IN THE FAMILY

The Cat 3500 is supplying vital power to the marine industry and she is also the muscle behind the toughest, most unforgiving applications in rail, mining, marine and oil & gas. For 35 years she has been there, striving for perfection. But the Cat 3500 series is so much more then that. She is actually just one of the members in a family of engines, all drawing similarities to the original 3500. There is the Cat G3500B series, which was the first Cat gas generator set to feature several technologies such as fully electronic control, automated air fuel ratio adjustment and pre-chamber spark plugs amongst others.

We have the E and H series that take electrical efficiency to the next level with up to 44,7 % (1.0PF, ISO). Thanks to a combination of new piston ring liner packs, optimized turbochargers and updated controls, the performance of the series is also improved. And we have the C series, that since 2005 has become the industry leader for operations on landfill gas, agricultural biogas and sewage gas fuels. So clearly, the Cat 3500 family covers a variety of fields and jobs.
