Why Mobile Track Solutions Chooses Cat® Articulated Trucks

All For One

The Mobile Track Solutions line of earthmoving machines is built with a variety of Cat® components, including engines, transmissions, hydraulic lines and hydraulic valve bodies. This means that Mobile Track Solutions machines can be serviced at Cat dealers across the United States, who have many of the critical parts already on their shelves.

“Cat dealers can service our equipment. They already have the training for the engines, transmissions, valves and other Cat parts that we use on the machines,” said Lee Zapf, Mobile Track Solutions sales manager. “A lot of customers in the construction industry run Cat equipment because they know that they can call that dealer up and get same-day service.”

“The importance of working with Caterpillar and Cat dealers from the contractor’s vantage point is that the parts are on the shelf, and the knowledge is ingrained in the mechanics who already call on the job sites. Caterpillar has one of the best dealer networks on the planet,” said Justin Augustyn, Mobile Track Solutions general manager.

“The nice thing about using Cat parts in our machines is that Cat dealer technicians are trained on the new technology. The technicians can go to a job site and they hit the ground running,” Augustyn said. “They don’t have to go to a special operator’s manual or a special service manual to acquire that knowledge and waste the customer’s time while the equipment is down.”

The company works with Caterpillar OEM Solutions to fill earthmoving niches not covered by the traditional Cat machine family.

The mission at MTS is to haul dirt. The increased productivity of their pull pan scrapers with Cat® Articulated Trucks means hauling more payload with less input costs at the end of the day.

“We start with a blank piece of paper on a product line. We have things that we want to accomplish, and most of the time they’re a good challenge for us. Then we start looking at what are the high-probability items that can be an issue,” Augustyn stated. “What are the service items that are going to keep a contractor from accomplishing his task? Those items—whether they’re cutting edges, spool valve components, transmission components, engines—those are the items that we’ll look to Caterpillar OEM Solutions to help provide solutions for us.”

At the end of the process, a machine is manufactured with the expertise of Mobile Track Solutions professionals, in consultation with engineers at Caterpillar OEM Solutions, that meets contractors’ needs like no other machine on the market.
