What’s as reliable as your Cat® engines and generator sets? The Extended Service Coverage that protects your investment. Find out how — and why — to add it.

DON’T UNDERESTIMATE THE POWER OF PROTECTION

Engines and generator sets keep the power flowing. They keep goods and people moving. And you count on them to run reliably.

But what happens if the unexpected occurs? Does your budget allow for unplanned parts and labor costs? Are technicians available to perform repairs right the first time?

That’s where Extended Service Coverage (ESC)* works to your advantage. Engine and generator protection from Caterpillar can help you:

  • Control costs. Get coverage on parts, labor and resultant damage to other Cat parts.

  • Hedge against inflation. Lock in your parts and labor repair costs upfront.

  • Reduce downtime. Trust factory-trained technicians using genuine Cat parts. They return your engine or generator to pre-failure condition.

DON’T UNDERESTIMATE THE POWER OF PROTECTION

FOUR EASY STEPS TO PROTECT YOUR CAT ENGINE OR GENERATOR

It’s simple to add Extended Service Coverage. Just follow these four steps.

1. Choose the best coverage for your situation

  • New ESC: The original factory warranty is still in place.

  • Advantage (Used) ESC: The warranty has expired, but you haven’t completed your first overhaul.

  • Overhaul ESC: You’ve completed an overhaul with an authorized Cat dealer.**

2. Calculate your coverage needs

When was your engine or generator set delivered or overhauled? Use that date to determine age and operating hours. Then, calculate expected annual hours for the future.

3. Select your coverage level

We offer different protection for different budgets and operational needs. For New and Advantage ESC, you can choose:

  • Silver: covers major components

  • Gold: Silver coverage plus the turbocharger and injector

  • Platinum: Gold coverage plus the as-shipped consist generator set from the factory

  • Platinum Plus: Platinum coverage plus less limitations on travel and milage

Ask your authorized Cat dealer about Overhaul ESC coverage levels.

4. Purchase, finance and register your coverage

Any authorized Cat dealer can finalize your Extended Service Coverage. You can pay for engine or generator protection outright, or you can finance it with your loan or lease. That makes for one convenient monthly payment. Another option is paying with the Cat Card, a revolving line of credit just for Caterpillar customers. You can earn Cat Vantage Rewards*** when you purchase ESC this way.

THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A WARRANTY, AN EXTENDED WARRANTY AND ESC

New Cat power systems come with a Caterpillar Limited Warranty.**** It covers parts and labor costs for 12 or 24 months or a specific number of operating hours. An extended warranty starts once the original factory warranty ends. At Caterpillar, we call it Extended Service Coverage instead. But the concept is the same.

COST VERSUS BENEFIT: ENGINE AND GENERATOR PROTECTION

Some experts suggest skipping the extended warranty on consumer goods. But what about industrial products like engines and generator sets? Is ESC a smart financial solution? Ask these questions to weigh the costs versus the advantages;

  • How long will you own the engine or generator? The Caterpillar Limited Warranty typically lasts 12-24 months, but your power system is designed to last much longer.

  • How flexible is your budget? Remember that unplanned repairs represent variable costs. Engine and generator protection is a fixed cost.

  • What’s your risk tolerance? Unexpected repairs could bring added costs or downtime. Maybe you’re okay with that. Or maybe you’d prefer the peace of mind of ESC.

  • Are parts and labor costs rising in your area? Or do you work across locations where costs vary? Consider the benefits of locking in those expenses now.

  • What’s the cost of downtime? Can you afford to have an engine out of commission? Are trained technicians available when you need them? Assess the value of getting repairs done right and quickly.

TOP ADVANTAGES OF EXTENDED SERVICE COVERAGE FROM CATERPILLAR

Why choose engine protection from Caterpillar versus a third party?

  • Quality repairs. Cat dealer technicians have the proper experience, training and tools. They return your engine or generator to pre-failure condition while meeting all safe use and environmental compliance requirements.

  • Multiple choices. One engine and generator protection plan isn’t right for everyone. That’s why Extended Service Coverage offers coverage and deductible options.

  • Global coverage. Do you operate marine, rail or truck engines? Does your work take you to different or remote locations? Extended Service Coverage goes everywhere you do.
