Proper maintenance makes sure your Cat FirstCut system is long-lasting and able to penetrate tough ground conditions. When maintained well, your FirstCut system helps attain more payload mass and greater productivity.
These edges are designed for cutting through compacted, rocky or frozen soils. And that means you can push harder while reducing track slip.
Each FirstCut cutting edge includes built-in wear indicators. When completing daily checks, keep an eye on these indicators to see when the edges need to be replaced to avoid damage to your dozer blade. You can find the wear measurements for your FirstCut systems in your OMM. If it's time for replacement, be sure to lower implements to the ground or onto cribbing, lock the hydraulics and turn off the engine.
Before you install new GET, remove rust and nicks from the blade to keep the edges flush to the dozer blade. But never apply lubricant to your Cat FirstCut cutting edges.
Always use new bolts and nuts when installing your FirstCut system. First, tighten the nuts and then strike the plow belt with a hammer. Finally, retighten the nuts to the torque values you see in your installation instructions.
