By Danielle Foelber and Lizzie Hurt | Posted July, 2023

The oil and gas sector is one of the most technically complex industries imaginable. The expertise and innovations required to produce energy that powers homes, cars, electronics, hospitals – entire economies – are the result of expert engineering. Onshore or offshore, every job is different. As a Caterpillar Oil & Gas Sales Support Engineer, Lizzie Hurt understands this well. She brings a keen design engineering lens to her co-host role for The Energy Pipeline podcast.

“Designed-to-order” custom solutions is the norm, and Lizzie’s experience encompasses engineering, application and installation perspectives. New solutions are developed daily that reduce emissions and total cost of ownership for higher-efficiency, lower-carbon operations. As co-host, Lizzie looks forward to uncovering the latest innovations and sharing how they can be leveraged in today’s operations.

“I love solving challenges that companies are facing and identifying solutions that work,” Lizzie stated. “I’m excited to delve into engineering trends impacting the industry.”

Beyond offering an engineer’s perspective to the changing oil and gas industry, Lizzie also brings insights surrounding workforce development. She is a regular participant at Purdue and Texas A&M recruiting events.

“I’m passionate about helping cultivate the next generation workforce for oil and gas,” Lizzie explained. “Oil and gas is an important contributor to the energy industry that is continually becoming more sustainable and is also a springboard for emerging energy technologies. Young engineers can find challenging and exciting opportunities in this space.”
