Choosing the right ground engaging tools (GET) boosts the productivity of your jobsite. But they require proper planned maintenance to work at their best. Let’s look at how to remove and install your Cat® Advansys™ System.
Watch this video showing Cat Advansys tip removal and installation or read the instructions below to get started:
Before you get started, check over the Operation and Maintenance Manual (OMM) to review safety procedures. And always make sure you have the necessary personal protective equipment (PPE) on hand, too.
Always make sure you park your machine on dry and level ground before starting any maintenance. You'll also need to lower your implements to the ground, lock out the hydraulics and turn off the engine, too.
Cat Advansys is a hammerless GET system designed to keep your fleet productive. Each Advansys tip is designed to protect your adapter. And because Advansys is a hammerless system, you will reduce downtime when it’s time to change out your tips.
When it’s time to remove your Advansys tips, follow these steps:
First, remove any material buildup from the tips.
If the material is packed on, uncurl the bucket and use water to soften any debris.
After the debris is cleared, grab the correct size breaker bar for your Advansys tip.
Rotate the retainer clockwise 180 degrees. Repeat this on the other side of the tip, too.
Once you’ve completed this, you’ll be able to slide the tip off and repeat the process.
After you remove Cat Advansys tips, installing new tips is fairly simple. Here’s how:
Before installing your new Advansys tips, inspect them to make sure they are free of debris.
Next, make sure the retainers are all in an unlocked position.
Slide the tip all the way onto the adapter.
Rotate the retainer clockwise 180 degrees using the breaker bar until the socket is in a locked position.
Repeat Step 4 on the other side of each tip to finish installing the Advansys system.
