From general to specialized jobs, find out which agriculture equipment attachments to get to boost efficiency on the farm.
CAITLIN MADDOCK-BAHR | Social Media & Digital Strategy Manager
Keeping a farm running smoothly takes a lot of time and hard work, but there are ways to make your job easier. Keep reading to learn about using agriculture equipment attachments to help you on the job.
Attachments help you do more with your Cat® equipment, saving you time and money. They allow you to do more with just one machine, which is a big bonus when you don’t own much equipment.
No two farms are exactly alike, but some jobs are common across the board. In the agriculture industry, you’re transporting lots of heavy materials. With a sturdy backboard for support, pallet forks make great starter attachments for transporting heavy loads of feed or harvests from point A to point B with a compact wheel loader.
There are also attachments when it comes to lightweight lifting. Adding a light materials bucket to your skid steer loader or compact track loader can come in handy for carrying lots of low-density topsoil, fertilizer and snow. However, when it comes to moving and stacking baled materials, bale spears and grabs are the way to go.
In addition to transporting materials, you’re also working in the ground with lots of compact soil. Rippers are the go-to addition in this department. Attached to your mini excavator, these tools can cut through dense layers of dirt and rock, helping you yield more crops in rough ground conditions.
Over time, you might need different attachments for more intense jobs. Heavy duty buckets are useful for digging, trenching and even excavating. They can load dense materials in large amounts, making them a great all-around addition to your backhoe loader or mini excavator.
Depending on where you live, snow and ice removal is one of those tricky jobs you just can’t avoid. Cat snow plows have a sharp-angled design to clear snow from all around your machine. They work with many loader machines and come in different sizes and weights, so you can choose based on your usual snow conditions.
Finally, once you’ve added a few loader and mini excavator attachments to your fleet, it might be time to invest in a quick coupler. This lets you switch attachments in seconds, so you can move between jobs quickly and efficiently. It also has a double locking system to give you peace of mind that your attachment won’t fall off after those quick transitions.
Agriculture equipment attachments will make the most out of any machine you use, whether you decide to stick to the basics or upgrade to more advanced tools. So, what attachments are right for you? The choice is yours.
