The Caterpillar Experience

You work in harsh environments for long hours under high expectations. Through it all, you chose us to help get the job done and we couldn't be prouder of what you do. For nearly a century, men and women have used Cat machines to dig deeper and build better. Let's look at the stories and the people that make up the Caterpillar Experience.

MEET THESE CAT OWNERS — THE TITANS OF THE TRADES

The mythical Titans were masters of the elements. Now, with the right equipment, everyone has that power. These Titans of the Trades do the work with grit, determination and Cat pride.

of

More than a small business owner, Richie Faulkner is a man of the skies. A guy who straps a paramotor to his back whenever he wants to soar into that wild blue expanse overhead. On the ground, he's a loyal Cat customer. When he's not earthbound, he's a Titan of the Trades.

of

Richie Faulkner doesn't just grade, dig and backfill. He's a dog-lover, a bird-breeder and a Cat owner who's kept his small business running for 23 years and counting thanks to his hard work, determination and his personal mantra, “kill ’em with kindness."

of

Arvid Veidmark III sounds like the name of a king from the days of yore. But Arvid is a present-day Titan of the Trades. A guy who reacts to challenges with precision, speed and calm. When he releases an arrow from his trusty bow, he knows it'll hit the target. And when he turns to Caterpillar, he's sure his team will hit their marks, too.

of

In Arvid's work, there's no margin for error. Owned by the Veidmark family for over 50 years, Specialized Services tunnels through the earth, aiming for targets that can be as small as a basketball. They rely on Cat equipment –– and a routine maintenance program from their local Cat dealer –– to meet the titanic standards of Arvid the Archer.

of

Like the explorers before him and the spacefarers to come, Gary Corns boldly goes where no fabricator has gone before. Some may see an antique 1939 Plymouth PT-81, but Gary sees the perfect vehicle for an airplane engine in a one-of-a-kind ride. Using his tools and his brain, Gary builds the machines that only a Titan of the Trades could dream up.

of

Gary Corns is larger than life and his 60-year-old company, Colorado Auto and Parts, has been around for a lifetime. He's a car farmer, and he uses his Cat equipment to break things down, crunch them up and build new, beautiful machines out of the salvaged parts, day in and day out. This Titan lives to "eat, sleep and crush you later."

of

"Windy" isn't just a day at sea. It's the name of a man whose dedication is as constant as a gusts that rock his boat in the Chesapeake Bay. Windy Karpavage is a crab fisherman who's spent decades reeling in the latest catch and keeping his business afloat. This bayside Poseidon is a true Titan of the Trades.

of

Windy Karpavage built his own crab fishing business from the ground up, or rather from the surface to the mast. He coasts with the help of his Cat diesel engine, while myparts.cat.com keeps him up-to-date on the components he needs. How hard can it be? With Caterpillar's help, this Titan of the Trades makes it look easy without rocking the boat.

of

Bernie Karl is a man of vision, many visions to be precise. In the Alaskan frontier, this entrepreneur owns his own scrap recycling business, manages his hot springs resort and harnesses geo-thermal energy. Like the old American titans of industry, Bernie is a present-day Titan of the Trades, and Caterpillar is proud to present his story.

of

Scott can take care of himself, getting his work done on time and on budget. As the owner and operator of an excavation business, S&K Exteriors, Scott Hill has spearheaded tough jobs as a Titan of the Trades for over 25 years. When he needs help with big repairs, however, he turns to his local Cat dealer, Thompson Machinery.

Try Out Cat Trials

Cat Trials place our iconic equipment in unbelievable situations. If Cat machines can do all this, imagine what they can do with your operation.

of

Inspired by the best-selling children’s book, “Goodnight, Goodnight, Construction Site,” Cat Trial 13 tells the story of Crane Truck, Cement Mixer, Dump Truck, Dozer and Excavator as they spend an action-packed day in the dirt. When the machines “go to bed” and the site shuts down, Cat and Cat dealers go to work. Preventative maintenance, service repairs, Customer Value Agreements, parts ordering through https://parts.cat.com, rebuilds and self-service options are just some of the ways we support customers at the end of the day. See the action for yourself in Cat Trial 13: Goodnight, Goodnight, Construction Site, and visit https://cat.com/Trial13 to learn more about how we brought this construction picture book to life.
