Cat® Cogen System Delivers Flexibility and Efficiency to Customer in Pakistan

What Happened?
Cat® dealer Allied Engineering & Services designed and installed combined heat and power (CHP) systems powered by Cat gas-fueled generators to deliver a reliable, continuous energy supply to a customer in Pakistan experiencing challenges with maintaining grid power. The systems provide energy independence and sustainability backed by key services, including connectivity.

What Was the Underlying Cause?
With the customer’s rapid business growth, frequent power fluctuations and unannounced load shedding put sensitive equipment at risk of damage. Some companies have added self-sufficient power generation capabilities to maintain reliable power for 24/7 operations.

With these additional assets came a critical requirement for services that provide performance assurance, parts availability, and online monitoring.

What Was the Value to the Customer?
Engineered for flexibility and efficient load management, the CHP systems feature four high-efficiency Cat G3512H Humidity Fuel Tolerant generator sets that deliver superior performance, providing power for electrical loads as well as heat for manufacturing processes.

The cogen systems and gensets installed at the customer’s facilities are covered by a five-year Long-Term Service Agreement (LTSA). Allied Engineering supports this service agreement through performance dashboards, online field service reports with detailed performance and service histories, on-site parts warehousing, and regularly scheduled maintenance and service performed by a dedicated 24/7 Cat certified technician on site.

“Cat generator sets have provided exceptional performance at facilities for many years,” said Zaheer Abid, country manager for power system product support at Allied Engineering & Services. “Caterpillar’s reputation for reliability and our dedicated robust support capabilities combine for a powerful solution that will deliver the long-term value the customer demands.”

Additionally, the cogeneration systems are equipped with Cat Connect Remote Asset Monitoring (RAM) solutions integrated with each facility’s SCADA system, allowing company managers to assess performance, receive alerts, and perform diagnostics.

Together, these services have provided unmatched parts availability, performance assurance, component life value, expert support, and peace of mind that enable the customer to address challenges and meet the company’s business initiatives through innovation, digital enablers, and cost savings.
