PA8E/PA12A Priming-Assisted Pumps
Mansfield, Ohio
Cat® C4.4 Tier 4 Final Engine
Whether it’s wastewater, sewage, runoff, or just regular water stopping the job from getting done, move it with Gorman-Rupp priming-assisted pumps. Designed to get the job done in tough environments, these pumps come ready to work straight from the factory. When it’s time to get pumping, just fire up the Gorman-Rupp Cat® powered pump, and let it do what it was designed to do — work.
Located in Mansfield, Ohio, Gorman-Rupp has been in the business of designing pumps for 90 years. It was the first company to introduce self-priming, centrifugal pumps to the pumping industry. Now, self-priming pumps are made for a variety of markets including: municipal, wastewater, industrial, construction and OEM.
With a variety of suction and discharge sizes, these pumps move a lot of liquid. They also have a nickel-welded check valve seat that helps defend against pumping abrasives, allowing hassle-free priming. These models can also come equipped with a heated priming hopper to help fight against freezing in colder climates.
Gorman-Rupp wanted to provide products to meet customers’ high expectations and demands. The Cat C4.4 was ultimately chosen because of its high power density. With a large torque output and high horsepower in a smaller package size, it was an easy decision.
Another upside to the PA8E and PA12A pumps is that most of their parts and materials — including the steel — come from the United States. Everything is machined in house at Gorman-Rupp’s 850,000-square-foot manufacturing facility located in Ohio. Before the pumps leave the facility, they are all tested to make sure they are ready to perform in the field.
These pumps are extremely user-friendly and are available for rent from Cat dealers. One key feature of these pumps is that they can run autonomously with the use of a float switch. When the pump has finished, a countdown will start, the pump will eventually shut itself off, making this an ideal rental unit.
The Cat C4.4 meets Final Tier 4 emissions standards. Gorman-Rupp and Caterpillar know that emissions regulations are only becoming stricter, and while they will have to meet emissions standards as they arise, they are up to the challenge.
Gorman-Rupp worked closely with Cat dealer Ohio Cat to get the right drop-in-ready industrial diesel power units for these pumps, which also includes the radiator and the cooling system. Gorman-Rupp relied heavily on Ohio Cat to help with the design of the engine package, and supported by their close relationship, the dealer was able to get the right design in no time.
“Ohio Cat has done a wonderful job facilitating our needs so that we can provide the customer with a complete worry-free package,” says Matt Olivieri, Product Manager at Gorman-Rupp.
Gorman-Rupp is known for being one of the best manufacturers in the industry, so they wanted to work with another industry leader to create these pump packages. Olivieri says, “Everybody knows the Cat brand, and with that, comes dependability. Just like Gorman-Rupp, the Cat brand is known throughout the world. Putting two quality names together creates a powerful team to give the customer a reliable, quality product.”
