Sullair Mid-Range Series

From abrasive sand and water blasting to drilling, cable blowing and pneumatic hand tool use, there is a common force that drives these services: air compressors. And when it comes to air compressors, Sullair brings the blast. Established in 1965 in Michigan City, Indiana, Sullair has always been committed to creating high-quality air compressors. The company introduced its first portable compressor a year later and was one of the first in the industry to implement rotary screw technology in its design.

Supreme Blasting Power from Sullair

From abrasive sand and water blasting to drilling, cable blowing and pneumatic hand tool use, there is a common force that drives these services: air compressors. And when it comes to air compressors, Sullair brings the blast.

Established in 1965 in Michigan City, Indiana, Sullair has always been committed to creating high-quality air compressors. The company introduced its first portable compressor a year later and was one of the first in the industry to implement rotary screw technology in its design. To this day, rotary screw compressors carry praise for their reliability and versatility.

The Sullair Mid-Range Series Tier 4 Final Portable Lubricated Rotary Screw air compressor, powered by the Cat® C7.1 engine, is one of the company’s latest and greatest innovations. Launched in February 2021, the Mid-Range Series condensed nine previous Sullair compressors into a single lightweight, compact, easy-to-maneuver package.

LEADING IN VERSATILTY & PERFORMANCE

Rotary screw technology combined with Sullair’s electronic spiral valve technology provides operators the ability to configure the compressor between 100 to 200 psi and 800 to 1100 cfm, which enables the compressor to be used in various applications without having to swap between different equipment.

The new, all-encompassing Mid-Range Series has seen other upgrades, too. “With the new design, we’ve reduced the size and weight from our legacy model by 50%. We made the product much easier to maneuver and much more versatile as far as usefulness in applications,” said Jerel Cole, Sullair’s senior project manager for portable products.

The benefits don’t stop there. The Mid-Range Series is best-in-class in a number of areas. It can operate safely for 10 hours with onboard fuel storage or around the clock with external fuel connections. It also excels in harsh environments, as it’s able to operate between -20 to 125º Fahrenheit and in altitudes up to 12,000 feet. Customers also appreciate its improved accessibility and ease-of-use provided by the model’s 7-inch Sullair Touch Screen (STS) Controller, enlarged doors for enhanced component accessibility and central drains.

It’s all made possible with Sullair design and Cat power. “We work with the Caterpillar engineering department to make our products easy to operate and fuel. Caterpillar is involved in every aspect to make sure that each engine is easy to service and maintain. We take pride in the robustness and the optimization we have to offer together,” explained Cole.

CONFIDENCE WITH CATERPILLAR

Maxing out at 320 HP, Cat’s C7.1 engine has taken the place of a 9-liter engine that historically powered Sullair’s legacy model. The C7.1 has a higher power density, which allows a smaller, more efficient engine to be packaged in Sullair compressors. A Tier 4 Final, EU Stage V engine, the C7.1 meets EPA emissions standards. The engine also adheres to noise requirements for metropolitan, suburban and rural areas.

With more than 60 primary dealer locations across the U.S., Caterpillar offers an extensive network for simple service and accessibility. In many cases, technicians and operators already use other Cat equipment on the job, so having another Cat powered product means one less dealer to hunt down for preventive maintenance or service.

REALITY IS KING

“Most projects are time-based, so downtime is not acceptable or tolerated in these markets. That’s where this power train in our Mid-Range Series excels. Where uptime is key, this is the ideal product for the customer,” Cole added.

Between the care and expertise that’s gone into every component to the Cat dealer network, owners and renters alike can have confidence that the Sullair Mid-Range Series Tier 4 Final Portable Lubricated Rotary Screw air compressor is in it for the long haul.
