SELECTIVE CATALYTIC REDUCTION (SCR) MAINTENANCE & SUPPORT FAQs

Q. Does the Caterpillar SCR system require additional maintenance?

No. Unlike Exhaust Gas Recirculation (EGR) solutions, our SCR system does not require any additional preventive maintenance or service activities. There’s no need to change fuel filters more frequently or requirement to perform EGR valve and cooler maintenance.

Q. What’s the overhaul life for the Caterpillar SCR system?

We designed SCR service periods to align with engine overhaul intervals. While the overhaul life of your SCR system will depend on your load profile, it is a long-life component expected to have the same overhaul life as your engine. When it is time to replace the system, it should only require about eight hours of labor. The system is fully accessible to your service engineers to help reduce downtime and replacement/overhaul parts costs.

Q. Who’s qualified to support the Caterpillar SCR system?

Our Tier 4 Final marine engines are fully supported by Cat® dealers worldwide. You can expect the same level of service, parts availability and expertise as with all previous marine engines.

Q. What sort of warranty comes with the Caterpillar SCR system?

Our Tier 4 Final marine engines are backed by the same standard warranty we provide for other Cat marine engines today.
