When Wheeled Vehicles Won’t Work: Morooka MST880VDL and MST880VD

Whether it’s utility maintenance and repair or site preparation, contractors can guarantee that their crews will face challenging conditions and tough terrains all before getting down to work. Wheeled vehicles are ineffective in these particular environments, as their tires can easily be stuck in soft, wet areas. That’s where Morooka carriers come in.

WHEN WHEELED VEHICLES WON’T WORK

Whether it’s utility maintenance and repair or site preparation, contractors can guarantee that their crews will face challenging conditions and tough terrains all before getting down to work. Wheeled vehicles are ineffective in these particular environments, as their tires can easily be stuck in soft, wet areas. That’s where Morooka carriers come in.

Carriers allow utility and construction crews to access remote areas with personnel and equipment where other vehicles fail. Morooka rubber-track carriers are designed specifically to overcome terrain difficulties thanks to low ground pressure and excellent traction. Utilizing the company’s original floating bogey undercarriage system to absorb impacts and maintain maximum ground contact, Morooka USA’s new MST880VDL utility carrier and MST880VD dump carrier smoothly maneuver through significant inclines, unstable locations and tight spaces.

Established in 2004, Morooka USA owner and president Ken Byrd saw the opportunity to introduce the Japanese brand into North American utility and construction equipment markets. By 2012, the company began building 17 models domestically in Ashland, Virginia for the U.S. and Canada. Today, Morooka USA continues to innovate by developing new additions to its existing lineup. The MST880VDL and MST880VD serve as the company’s latest extension, offering a mid-size, budget-friendly alternative.

A New Set of Tracks for Tighter Budgets

Featuring single joystick controls in the ROPS-certified canopy, both carrier models were designed for simple, easy operation. Both machines also have a value-driven hydrostatic transmission and motor with a Cat® C3.6 diesel engine, combining premium power and smooth speed changes to suit the 12,000 lb-rated payload. But those aren’t the only changes made to the MST880VDL. The utility carrier has a new engine location and an extended front and rear to accommodate middle attachments and exterior outriggers. The end results from these efforts have produced high-value, lower cost options that are ideal for both renters and buyers.

“We made these model changes to minimize the customizations that end users would need to make in order to meet their needs. The 880s are the perfect fit for customers who need a mid-size carrier that don’t want to spend extra for a larger machine with more bells and whistles,” explained David Byrd, marketing director at Morooka USA.

However, buyers do have the option to equip the MST880VDL with attachments ranging from augers and digger derricks to man lifts. Just about any attachments or accessories that can be mounted onto a truck or other wheeled vehicle can be added to the new utility carrier.

Carrying On With Caterpillar

Morooka USA has worked closely with the Cat dealer network since they first began manufacturing carriers. Carter Machinery has assisted Morooka USA for nearly a decade, providing engine selection, design, testing and service to afford top power, increased reliability and leading performance. The robust Cat C3.6 engine fitted into the MST880VDL and MST880VD delivers 129 hp to handle even the most demanding terrains and conditions.

The Cat C3.6 Tier 4 Final, EU Stage V engine meets regulatory emissions standards while providing 5% more power density and 12% more torque than past models.  Operators also have the option to engage with the engine’s built-in telematics to track location, usage, health and other critical metrics.

“Caterpillar is one of the most well-renowned engine manufacturers in the industry. That’s why we use them across our line. With Caterpillar, we’re able to give our customers peace of mind that they’re going to get a reliable product that achieves that desired level of performance,” said Byrd.
