Gas Compression - Engine Performance (CG137 / G3500)

COURSE DESCRIPTION

The Gas Compression – Engine Performance focuses on properly evaluate, test, and adjust Cat® gas engine systems components affecting optimum performance.

This course will be covering CG137 and G3500 engine platforms used in gas compression application. At the Miami Lakes Learning Center the labs will be conducted on the following engines:

  • CG137
  • G3516J
  • G3516TA

LEARNING OUTCOMES

After completion of this course, the learner will be able to tune the engine to achieve optimum performance and emissions compliance as per Caterpillar specifications. To achieve this goal, the learner will develop the following set of skills:

  • Adjust Gas Pressure Differential Regulator
  • Adjust Carburetor
  • Adjust Emissions in Open Loop Operation Mode
  • Adjust Emissions in Closed Loop Operation Mode: (O2/NOx Feedback)
  • Adjust Wastegate and/or Compressor Bypass
  • Adjust PIDs for Speed and Air/Fuel Ratio Control
  • Use Special Instruction to perform Initial Start-Up procedure
