The Wuhan province in China has been called the epicenter for the COVID-19 outbreak. As people there struggled to cope with the new normal the crisis created, help crisis, Cat®dealership employees stepped up to help.
Lei Shing Hong Machinery (LSHM), a Cat® dealer in China, has been on the frontlines of the COVID-19 outbreak. In January, the Chinese government decided to build the Leishenshan hospital there to take care of those in dire need of medical care. To fully support that effort, the LSHM Engine Division donated four Perkins generator sets. The LSHM logistics department delivered those gensets from Shanghai. And the Hubei project manager, along with two maintenance technicians, completed the final installation on February 3.
In order to prevent the spread of the virus, LSHM group CEO Lawrence Poh emphasized it would be a team effort across the entire dealership. To keep customers safe, but also help them keep their businesses going, the dealership launched an online troubleshooting service through the LSHM Service App. It allows customers to ask any technical questions they have through the app. More than 200 technical engineers are on standby online and are able to provide solutions free of charge. It also includes a small machine maintenance guide video for customer reference.
The dealer also started the Lei Shing Hong Customer Healthy Caring Insurance Program with the health and well being of customers in mind. The program covers many kinds of diseases, including COVID-19.
After the Chinese New Year, all four China dealers launched a range of online support programs through multiple digital channels, with the aim to provide comprehensive services to support customers and businesses. And the Caterpillar China team is working closely with dealers on the newly launched nationwide free inspection campaign, that aims to help customers recover and resume work worry free.
