6.  Keep hammer at a 90° angle to the working surface

7.  Apply continuous pressure throughout the breaking cycle

8.  Do not use hammer for lifting or prying

9.  Grease the hammer at least every 2 hours

10.  Consider using the carrier autolube system if in a large-scale breaking application

11.  Use a hammer mounted autolube system if hammer is used on multiple machines or rental fleet

12.  Use Hammer Paste for lubricant in high temperature bushing – tool areas to prevent excessive wear

13.  Modification is required to operate Cat hammers under water

14.  Cat hammers can be used on non-Cat machines

15.  Lower Tool Bushing can be serviced in the field by the operator on Cat hammers

16.  Don’t break rocks smaller than necessary

17.  Prevent blank firing

18.  Use a Moil or Pointed tool for soft, non-abrasive rock, asphalt and light concrete

19.  Use a Chisel tool for non-abrasive, sedimentary and weak metamorphic rock, concrete and asphalt cutting

20.  Use a Blunt tool for concrete demolition, boulder breaking and igneous and tough metamorphic rock
