The Cat ECS Range
As the energy ecosystem evolves, so does the need for distributed generation resources and the innovative solutions necessary to manage them. Designed by Caterpillar’s network of global engineering experts for a changing regulatory environment and more control of advanced energy systems, the portfolio meets most major grid requirements and utilizes simple, scalable architecture, which allows customers to layer additional functionality and serviceability in line with changing energy needs.

- Cat ECS 100 – a powerful standby control system

The new system, offering faster communication and a modern user interface, provides a simple solution for energy management. The energy control system also offers warnings, automatic shutdown, voltage data, and event history while engine protection monitors fluids, temperature, and gas pressure.

The first in the series of new controllers, the Cat ECS 100 has been released on new standby, gas (fast-response), and prime power gensets in select regions.
The Cat ECS 100 offers a range of features to enhance the dealer and customer experience including:
- Intuitive 8-inch color smart-screen navigation, customized to customers’ needs
- Enhanced programmable logic controller (PLC) functionality
- Four optional remote human machine interfaces (HMIs) for greatly enhanced site monitoring, flexibility, and safety
- Compatibility with Cat Connect and Product LinkTM devices
- Full automatic mains failure functionality featuring 3-phase generator, mains voltage sensing, and breaker transfer pair control
- Integrated annunciator function to meet requirements of NFPA 110 for simplified site regulatory compliance
- Compliance with major global grid code requirements IEEE1547, VDE 4110, and EN 50549, UL2200 3rd edition standard, including UL 6200 functional safety requirements

Available in 2024: The Cat ECS 200
The Cat ECS 200 builds upon the features of the Cat ECS 100. It enables paralleling of up to 32 generator sets, balance of plant control, combined heat and power (CHP) operation, and full grid compliance.
The ECS 200 offers a range of features to enhance the dealer and customer experience including:
- Intuitive 8-inch color smart-screen navigation, customized to customers’ needs
- Four optional remote human machine interfaces (HMIs) for great enhanced site monitoring, flexibility, and safety
- Compatibility with Cat Connect and Product LinkTM devices
