Lafayette, Indiana - Caterpillar Oil & Gas is pleased to announce the Cat® G3306B generator set has received United States EPA Mobile & Stationary Certification, the first Cat power solution to achieve this distinction. Primarily used in land production applications, the G3306B certified oilfield gas generator set is available with a power ratings of 131 ekW @ 60 Hz. Customers can order the EPA certified G3306B generator set through the Cat dealer network as a design to order solution.
“Our customers have been asking for an EPA certified solution in this specific power node and we’re pleased the G3306B certified generator set is now available to them,” Eric Seubring, Caterpillar Oil & Gas engineering project team lead stated. “For customers, key benefits of a mobile & stationary EPA certified solution include increased flexibility to move power throughout regions providing enhanced mobility of their fleet and the ability to operate power in island mode.”
The G3306B certified generator set is powerful addition to any petroleum site. The generator set offers 70% load step acceptance while operating on a wide range of gas quality – from wellhead gas (down to Cat MN 30) to pipeline quality natural gas. The G3306B features a rugged design optimized for the harsh oilfield environment and simplified loading/unloading. Key design features include an oversized generator to enable superior performance in block load acceptance as well as an oversized radiator for operation in high ambient temperatures. The G3306B is manufactured with factory-installed air-fuel ratio controls and a three-way catalyst in order to meet the EPA certification and customers are given the option to customize the configuration specifically for their operations’ needs. “The EPA certified solution also offers customers the ability to run on liquid propane gas as a factory-supported solution,” Seubring noted. “The key takeaway is that Caterpillar, along with our dealer network, is able to work extensively with our customers to deliver EPA certified, tailored solutions for production applications and we’re looking forward to delivering more certified Cat power ranges to oilfields in the near future.”
